I wanted to challenge myself by applying motion graphics techniques in a stylized way inspired by VOX-style visuals. To start, I needed a compelling topic, and hockey—something I love—felt like the perfect choice. I decided to highlight 12 of the greatest Stanley Cup-winning teams from the modern era, including the 1956 Canadiens, 1967 Maple Leafs, 1970 Bruins, 1980 Islanders, 1984 Oilers, 1994 Rangers, 1997 Red Wings, 2001 Avalanche, 2004 Lightning, 2010 Blackhawks, 2018 Capitals, and 2024 Panthers.
To bring this concept to life, I used Google Earth Studio to establish all camera movements, setting precise zoom-ins and zoom-outs to the correct geographic locations. After rendering the image sequences with tracking data, I imported them into After Effects, where I placed team logos in their respective locations and stylized the map to match my vision. Once the motion and graphics were finalized, I transitioned to Premiere Pro for post-production—adding typography, sound effects, an overlay for snow, music, and clips showcasing iconic Stanley Cup moments. The final result captured the excitement and history of these legendary teams, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
